My Story
Dianne has been practicing physical therapy for almost 25 years sharpening skills in a variety of manual therapies, exercise prescription and function training with innumerable cutting- edge, accredited continuing education courses.
She began her career in Buffalo, NY where she graduated from Daemen College in 1988. She worked for two years at Mercy Hospital in her home town in acute care, skilled rehabilitation for orthopedics and various neurological diagnoses as well as outpatient orthopedics. She relocated to Harrisonburg, VA in 1990 after accepting a position at Sports Medicine Back Institute of Rockingham Memorial Hospital continuing to practice with the same case load variety of orthopedic, post-operative orthopedic care, sports medicine, neurological dysfunction, wound care and acute care.
Throughout the first 15 years of her career she had ample opportunity to work closely with experienced athletic trainers off and on the field, trading ideas and problem solving functional and sports performance issues for many local high school and college athletes. She volunteered at numerous high school and college sports events and at the 1993 World University Games in Buffalo, NY. She pursued continuing education each year of her career consisting of the most current information on biomechanics, functional strength testing and joint rehabilitation. This also included extensive courses from Michigan State University School of Osteopathic Manual Medicine regimen and The Jones Institute where she became very well versed in the technique, Strain Counter-Strain. This was the ground work to which had launched Dianne into her passion of always searching for what really is causing her patients’ problem, providing truly effective treatments which lead to lasting results.
The last 10 years she has focused on problematic pain and dysfunction issues that appear to be unresponsive to traditional physical therapy methods, chiropractic care or medicine. She has been to numerous continuing education classes for advanced techniques from The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy which involves a knowledge base of whole systems in the body and considerable hands on training. To master these skills, she has spent many hours mentoring as well as co-treating with licensed Physical Therapists and other licensed allied health professionals throughout northern Virginia and Connecticut for the technique known as Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT). These techniques combined with functional exercise and strength training along with many other hands on and mechanical modalities have proven to be profoundly effective for many of her orthopedic, sports-medicine, neurological and recurring or chronic pain clientele.
Her love and devotion is to her husband, Brian and their three sons, Brian, Michael and Nicholas. She enjoys running, weight training and numerous forms of exercise, travel and fun with family and friends and participating in the various ministries of her church.
Her passion is offering hope, inspiration and a path of success to the people of her community through seeking the most effective means of treatment, collaborating with colleagues and educating her patients to take part in their overall health and well-being.
