My Story
Ellen Hicks MEd, VATL, ATC is native to the Shenandoah Valley and brings with her almost 18 years of experience as an athletic trainer in high school and college settings, currently at Bridgewater College. Ellen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Minor in Athletic Training from Bridgewater College, and a Master of Education degree from Northwestern State University in Health Promotion. She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Athletic Trainer, Pharmacy Technician and Emergency Medical Technician. She is a lifetime member with the Broadway Rescue Squad.
Ellen has dedicated herself to pursuing quality, accredited continuing education and practicing her skills on the field, in the training room and in the clinic. This diverse professional experience has afforded her considerable opportunity to work with a variety of allied health care professionals in the field of rehabilitation in treating a full spectrum of orthopedic and post-operative patient cases. Ellen has a passion to deliver only the best care and likes to “think outside the box” in problem solving her more challenging athletes or clients. She also has the tremendous gift to inspire her athletes and patients to push themselves to reach their full potential. Also, due to her strong knowledge base, she is able to educate them in nutrition and other aspects of their health where appropriate.
